It’s easy to agree that children have rights, until those rights ask something of us as adults.

A familiar feeling of overwhelm crept in this morning when I read about three year delays in the introduction of a national database to share information about convicted child sexual abuse offenders working with children.

In light of the most recent inquiry into child safety and yet another devastating case of abuse within a Victorian childcare centre, it’s encouraging to see recommendations for a national Working With Children Check (WWCC) gaining traction.

Many people would be surprised at the number of organisations that are actually required to be child safe but don’t realise it.

Last week, a number of the Individual Placement Support (IPS) team attended the Resilient Kids Conference, hosted by Michelle Mitchell and Karen Young.
