Should Your Organisation Be Implementing Child Safe Standards?

Many people would be surprised at the number of organisations that are actually required to follow child safe standards but don’t realise it.

If you work with children or young people, even indirectly, your organisation may have a responsibility under the Child Safe Standards.

It could be through programs, services, facilities, partnerships, or even volunteers.

We often come across organisations that assume the standards don't apply to them because they are not directly a 'children's service'.

It's why my team and I are constantly working on raising awareness as the first step to making real change.

If you feel that your organisation falls under the umbrella of those who should become child safe, we've put together some FAQs to help you navigate the first stages of the process - education.

Child Safe Standards FAQs:

Child Safe Standards - How do I know if I need to be a child safe organisation?

Another question we are often asked is this one:

"Is child safety just about compliance?" Our answer? No.

We believe it’s about creating environments where children and young people feel genuinely safe, where they are heard and respected.

Compliance is an integral part of the process, but the foundation is built on embedding the right culture.
