Fostering Employee Well-being & Resilience

We must undertake a holistic and proactive approach to ensuring workplace health and safety for all of our staff; employees, contractors, volunteers, trainees and management. It is critical for the physical, psychological and emotional well-being of our team members, who are exposed to trauma and vicarious trauma due to the nature of the work we do - working with children and young people in and on the edge of care.
Delivering Retreat and Conference options to our team means we recognise that they are critical to our business, and their wellbeing is paramount to our success. Facebook reminded me today of our first-ever annual SCS Conference, held in the beautiful Byron Bay in 2018. It was such a wonderful opportunity to take time out, pause and reflect, with our growing team (we had about 30 team members at that point), engaging in professional development together and well-being activities like beach yoga.
We've grown to two and a half times that size now and are eagerly awaiting our first ever SCS Retreat next month, also back in beautiful Byron Bay! The Retreat is an opportunity to focus on physical and psychological well-being through meditation, breathwork, yoga, and massages. The SCS Conference, which we now hold in September each year, will be a week-long professional development and team-building opportunity.
What great ways to celebrate the team and to put their health and well-being at the forefront of our minds. After all, we cannot put on the ‘oxygen mask’ for others if we are not doing so for ourselves.
