Leanne Russell

Social Worker

BSW DipCommServices (Youth Work)

Leanne started working in the human services field nine years ago. She commenced her career working as a youth worker in a residential care setting in a non government agency working with children and young people with challenging and complex behaviour. At this time she was trained in therapeutic crisis intervention, before then working in a mental health support worker position, facilitating a short term crisis accommodation program for people in the community with mental health diagnosis who were at risk of homelessness. Further on from there, Leanne worked as a clinical social worker in a hospital setting in the area of general medicine, burns and oncology where she also provided support to the child protection social work team.

After maternity leave, she joined a fostering team in a non government agency where she completed foster care assessments and managed a case load of general and kinship foster care families.

Her practice framework is underpinned by the strengths perspective, empowerment and family centered practice. Leanne is a proud mother of one.
